Last week, the EPA's WasteWise Program hosted its Spring 2015 Forum on Food Donation. In attendance were representatives from RecyclingWorks and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) to highlight private and public sector achievements in food recovery.

We heard Karen Franczyk, Green Mission Coordinator at Whole Foods, speak on the grocer's efforts to ramp up prepared food donations. Lauren Palumbo, Chief Operating Officer at Lovin' Spoonfuls, spoke on the role that food rescue organizations play in connecting food businesses' surplus product with nearby food agencies.

The Boston Globe captured some of the WasteWise Forum dialogue - as well as broader commentary on food recovery and waste management efforts in Massachusetts - in a recent article titled "Rescued food feeds the hungry" (published June 8, 2015).

A special thanks to the Globe for the Spoiler Alert spotlight towards the end of the article!
